Football News: German media referred to England’s Euro 2022 victory as a “scam” after criticising a penalty that ought to have been given.

Germans are outraged when major newspaper Bild said the two-time world champions were “scammed” and “cheated.”

Their remarks come amid ongoing discussion about whether one of Geoff Hurst’s goals in England’s 4-2 victory in 1966 final actually crossed the line.
Martina Voss-Tecklenburg, the head of the German team, acknowledged that the error was unacceptable. At this level, in the European Championships final, she declared, “This shouldn’t happen.”
“I’d want to talk about why nobody looked at it. I have to ask you this because it would be great. Although it happened to us today, I would have felt the same if it had happened to them. It definitely aggravates me.”
She stated as well: “When the score was 0-0, there was a definite handball in the box. This moment comes to mind. VAR examined it but did not grant it. Why didn’t the official examine it? It was a little painful.

England reveled in their victory and gave little thought to their lucky call. Sarina Wiegman, the Lionesses’ head coach, said: “I think what we’ve done is truly remarkable.”
