Manchester City news: Pep Guardiola gives update on Bernardo Silva’s future
The Portugal international is one of the most talented midfielders of his generation. He started his professional career with Benfica in 2013 before arriving at AS Monaco in 2014.
Silva impressed with his performances at the Stade Louis II, earning himself a move to English giants Manchester City in 2017. He has played 166 league games for the Cityzens since then, scoring 29 and assisting 28 goals.
The 27-year-old midfielder has helped the Sky Blues win 11 major trophies so far, including four English Premier League titles. He won the Manchester City Player of the Season 2017-18 and was also included in the PFA Premier League Team of the Season twice.
Speaking to the media, Pep Guardiola admitted that he wants Bernardo Silva to stay at the Etihad Stadium next season.
The Manchester-based club will look to continue its domination in the Premier League next season. They have spent close to £100 million on signing new players this transfer window.
Erling Haaland, Kalvin Phillips, and Stefan Ortega have joined them so far in this window. Guardiola is expected to bring in more fresh faces to the squad before the transfer window slams shut on September 1, 2022,
They will kick-start their Premier League campaign against West Ham United at the London Stadium on August 7.
France international is one of the most creative players in La Liga. He has registered 18 goals and 21 assists in 99 league games since joining Betis from Lyon in 2019.
