Manchester United News: Red Devils Deny Claims of £110m Bid For Joao Felix
Manchester United news: The Red Devils have dismissed reports that they submitted a £110m to Atletico Madrid for Joao Felix.
However, Man Utd’s miserable start to the new season have further laid bare the need for the Red Devils to make more signings.
Atletico Madrid attacker Felix is among those who have been linked with a move to Old Trafford. Reports emerged earlier this week that Man Utd had a £110m bid for Felix rejected by Atletico Madrid.
Atletico Madrid also does not want to part ways with Felix, who has had a stellar start to the new season. The Portuguese international provided all three assists as Atletico Madrid began their La Liga 22/23 campaign with a 3-0 win over Getafe.
Felix has been playing for Atletico Madrid since they signed him from Benfica for £113m in 2019. The 22-year-old has so far appeared in 111 matches for Atletico Madrid. He made 35 appearances for Atletico last season and scored 10 goals for Diego Simeone’s side.
Felix was also part of the Atletico Madrid squad that won the La Liga title in the 2020/21 season. The versatile attacker joined Atletico on a seven-year contract, which runs until 2026.
Meanwhile, Man Utd are considering a move for Real Madrid’s Casemiro as they look to strengthen their midfield department. The Red Devils have not been able to seal the signing of Frenkie de Jong from Barcelona despite persistent interest in the Dutch midfielder.
Old Trafford’s move for Adrien Rabiot is also unlikely to happen. Man Utd had agreed on an initial transfer fee with Juventus. However, they did not reach an agreement on personal terms with Rabiot due to the player’s wage demands.
Meanwhile, Man Utd have begun their 22/23 season with two defeats. They succumbed to a 2-1 defeat to Brighton & Hove Albion in their first league match of the season.
A far worse result awaited them at Gtech Community Stadium in their second game of the league season. In a disastrous first half, they conceded four goals as Brentford humiliated them with a 4-0 win.
