Barcelona News: Xavi Confirms Pablo Torre Will Stay at the Club
Barcelona news: Manager Xavi has confirmed Pablo Torre will stay at the club this season.
Xavi added: “He is at Barça and he has to be an important player for the future. He can be. We will have matches every three days and it’s good that he stays with us and, if he has to help the reserve team, he can do so without any problems because he is old enough to do so.”
Torre plays as an attacking midfielder. He can also ply his trade as a left-winger. He began his senior professional career with Racing Santander. During his time at the club, Torre featured in 57 games for the Spanish side.
Barcelona reached an agreement with Racing to sign Torre for a fee of €5 million plus variables in March this year. Torre has signed a four-year contract with the Catalan outfit.
The 19-year-old was initially assigned to the Barcelona B team. He is yet to make his senior team debut for the Catalan outfit.
The Catalan outfit faced Rayo Vallecano in their first game of the La Liga 22/23 season. However, Barcelona could not kick off their campaign with a win as Vallecano held them to a goalless draw.
Barcelona then faced Real Sociedad in their next match and secured an emphatic victory. Summer signing Robert Lewandowski broke the deadlock in the very 1st minute of the minute. Sociedad restored parity through Alexander Isak in the 6th minute.
However, three goals in the second half saw Barcelona cruise to a comfortable victory. Ousmane Dembele scored in the 66th minute before Lewandowski made it 3-1 in the 68th minute. Ansu Fati then scored in the 79th minute to seal Barca’s victory.
Barcelona currently have four points from their first two games in the La Liga this season. They sit sixth in the points table.
Meanwhile, Barcelona host Real Valladolid at Camp Nou in their next match in the Spanish top-flight.
