Manchester United News: Ralf Rangnick Makes Red Devils ‘Problems’ Claim
The Red Devils appointed Rangnick as their interim manager after they parted ways with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer following a string of poor performances. Man Utd’s fortunes on the pitch did not improve by a great margin even after Rangnick took over, with the club finishing sixth in the Premier League.
The Old Trafford outfit appointed Erik ten Hag as their new permanent manager at the end of the 2021/22 season. Ten Hag has since taken over the charge of rebuilding Man Utd.
Man Utd suffered defeats in their first two matches of the Premier League 22/23 season. But they have since bounced back with two consecutive wins. After losing to Brighton and Brentford, Man Utd inflicted a 2-1 defeat on Liverpool. They picked up another three points when they faced Southampton in their next game.
Speaking to Der Standard, Ten Hag revealed two weeks into his job as the interim manager of Man Utd, he knew where the problems were. However, he also hinted that he was not given the option to fix those problems Man Utd faced.
Rangnick was due to take up a consultancy role at Old Trafford following the end of his interim manager spell. However, he instead took up the offer to become the manager of the Austrian national football team.
They have signed Tyrell Malacia, Lisandro Martinez, Christian Eriksen, and Casemiro. They are likely to make more signings in the last week of the summer transfer window.
Man Utd is also set to complete the signing of Antony from Ajax. The Red Devils have already announced they have reached an agreement with Ajax for the transfer of the Brazilian winger. He will reunite with Ten Hag at Ajax, with the Dutchman keen for his signing.
The Red Devils have also signed goalkeeper Martin Dúbravka from Newcastle United on loan.
Meanwhile, Man Utd face Leicester City at King Power Stadium in their next match in the English top-flight. The match kicks off at 12:30 am Indian Standard Time, on September 2nd.
