Manchester United News: Erik ten Hag Confirms Cristiano Ronaldo Will Stay
Manchester United News: Manager Erik ten Hag has confirmed star striker Cristiano Ronaldo will stay at the club.
Reports have said Ronaldo has asked Man Utd to allow him to leave should they receive a suitable offer.
Since reports emerged that Ronaldo wants to leave Man Utd, the Old Trafford outfit have maintained he is not for sale. Ronaldo’s current contract with Man Utd runs until 2023. The Red Devils also have the option to extend it by another 12 months.
Meanwhile, Ronaldo has not had the best start to the 22/23 season. He has featured in all four games Man Utd have played so far but has not scored a goal yet.
Ten Hag dropped Ronaldo from the starting XI for Man Utd’s Premier League 22/23 opener against Brighton. The Dutch manager, though, brought Ronaldo on in the 53rd minute as Man Utd succumbed to a 2-1 defeat.
Ronaldo returned to the starting against Brentford. But the 37-year-old could not contribute much as the Red Devils suffered a heavy 4-0 defeat at the hands of Brentford.
Ten Hag again dropped Ronaldo for their clash against Liverpool. He was one of the four players who started at Brentford that moved into the bench. Ten Hag’s changes paid off results as Man Utd inflicted a 2-1 defeat on Liverpool to secure their first win of the campaign. Ronaldo did make an appearance, but only towards the end of the game.
Against Southampton, Ten Hag fielded the same XI that started against Liverpool. That meant Ronaldo once again sat on the substitute bench. Ronaldo would eventually come on in the 68th minute as Man Utd claimed another three important points.
Meanwhile, Man Utd face Leicester City at King Power Stadium in their next match in the Premier League.
