Football News: Conor Coady Gave His Honest Opinion About Leaving Anfield
Coady spent 9 years at his boyhood club after joining the Reds’ youth academy in 2005.
Before joining Huddersfield Town, the defender spent the 2013-2014 season on loan at Sheffield United. He appeared there 50 times across all competitions.
Coady was promoted to the senior side in the 2011/2012 campaign but was never able to get regular game time at Anfield.
The Anfield side sold him for just around £500,000 to Huddersfield Town. In his one-year stay at the club, he made 48 appearances and registered 3 goals and 3 assists.
In 2015, Coady again made his move and signed for Championship side Wolverhampton Wanderers on a £2 million transfer fee.
Under the former manager Nuno Espirito Santo, Coady played as a central defender in the three-man defense system of Wolves. He also became club captain after the club’s return to the Premier League.
The player left Wolves after his seven seasons and joined on loan the city rival of his boyhood club this summer.
He talked about his experience under Sheffield manager Nigel Clough. He also added about working hard at Sheffield to appear on the weekend, after staying there for one season, he never wanted to let go of that feeling. So, it became easier for him to leave Anfield behind.
He also told: “You mention it is a big decision. It was, but that was to pick the right club that was right for me. Brendan Rodgers was fantastic at that at the time in terms of how he helped me. But the big decision was picking the right club, not leaving Liverpool because that was something that I wanted to do”.
The Toffees are going to face Southampton in the upcoming Premier League away fixture on 1st October after the International break.
