Juventus Can Reduce Their Selling Price of Arthur
Serie-A giants Juventus are thinking to reduce their selling price to offload the Brazilian midfielder Arthur Melo permanently, next summer.
Rising from the youth setup of Gremio, Arthur Melo started his senior team career with the Brazilian club. He took some time to settle down in the Gremio set-up. But then the midfielder played a pivotal role in the Brazilian club’s Copa Libertadores victory.
He spent the next two years in Turin but his performance never improved and he was not consistent enough to be called a key player for the Bianconeri.
From the start of the summer, Juventus were looking to offload Arthur to another team. Finally, on the deadline day, Liverpool decided to sign the midfielder on a loan and paid the Turin-based club a sum of £3.9 million.
However, since arriving at Liverpool, Arthur reportedly failed to impress the German gaffer Jurgen Klopp in the first few sessions. Things were so bad that were reports of Liverpool terminating his loan in the winter itself.
Arthur later played for Liverpool’s reserve side in a 1-0 win over Leicester City to gain some fitness. This match was also the Brazilian’s first 90 minutes in over 129 days.
Since Arthur has looked motivated to get back to his best shape in order to cement his spot in the Liverpool lineup. The Brazilian midfielder does not intend to return to Turin and wants to become a permanent Liverpool player.
Interestingly, Juventus too want the same. The Bianconeri management knows that Arthur is not fit for their playing style and they want to offload him permanently.
Earlier, it was revealed that Liverpool will have the chance to secure the Brazilian midfielder on a permanent transfer if they decide to pay a sum of £32.4 million to the Bianconeri. But looking at Arthur’s current form, Juventus is sure that Liverpool will not intend to buy the midfield at this price. So they decided to lower their ask.
Juventus is currently going through a transition period. The Bianconeri have got a tough start to the season.
They have managed to win only two out of their first seven matches. Juventus is currently standing at eighth place in the Serie-A table with only ten points. They will face Bologna in their next match.
