Phil Foden Signs Contract Extension With Manchester City

Phil Foden entered the youth setup of Manchester City at a very early age. He performed extremely well in the age group tournaments which earned him a place in England’s junior teams.

Foden grabbed this opportunity with both hands and got a chance to represent England in the FIFA U-17 World Cup. The youngster played some brilliant football in the tournament and won the Golden ball award. Meanwhile, England lifted the U-17 World Cup. This served as a big breakthrough for him.

Just after the end of the World Cup, Foden was promoted to the main squad and gradually the youngster became one of the key players for pep Guardiola’s team. Foden has already won thirteen major trophies for Manchester City which includes four Premier League titles.

Born and brought up as a Manchester City supporter, Phil Foden is currently living the dream of every City fan. He recently scored a hattrick in City’s 6-3 victory over their arch-rivals and is currently a local hero for the Citizens.

While speaking after his contract renewal, an emotional Foden said, “It’s a dream come true. I have been a City fan all my life. I’ve trained here for so many years and I’ve even been a ballboy.”

The City midfielder further added, “I love this club so much, so to know I am going to be a part of it until 2027 feels amazing.”

Foden has played some excellent football throughout the season. The midfielder has already scored seven goals and provided three assists in all competitions, this season.

The young City midfielder is also a big part of the English team that will take part in the Qatar World Cup 2022. Foden now will hope to carry his great form ahead of the perennial event.

Manchester City have made a great start to their current English Premier League campaign. The Citizens have won seven out of their first nine matches and are the only unbeaten team in the league so far.

They will now face Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool in their next match.
