Lionel Messi to Decide His Future Only After the Qatar World Cup 2022
After spending some time in the academy of Newell’s Boys, Lionel Messi joined the youth setup of the Spanish club FC Barcelona. He finished his football education at the famous La Masia and was promoted to the main team of Barcelona.
After his promotion, Messi did not take much time to settle into the Barcelona squad. He then became one of the best players ever to grace the gamer of football. Lionel Messi won everything possible for the Catalan Giants and made them one of the best clubs in the world. His love for Barcelona was unparalleled and it was often thought that the Argentine forward will only retire in a Blaugrana shirt.
However, things did not happen as he would have wanted. Even after Barcelona’s great on-field performances, they were hugely mismanaged throughout a big part of the last decade. As a result, Barcelona went into economic turmoil and failed to register the contract of Lionel Messi. Messi then had to leave his beloved club.
After his exit, Messi joined French Ligue 1 club Paris Saint-Germain on a two-year deal. He had a very tough start to his PSG career but was able to win the Ligue 1 title with the French giants.
Now, this around he has started brilliantly. Messi has already scored eight goals and also provided eight assists in all competitions.
His PSG contract however is going to expire at the end of this season. Paris Saint-Germain obviously wants to keep the superstar at the Parc des Princes and has already given him a contract renewal offer.
Meanwhile, Barcelona is also in the race for the forward. The Blaugrana have now become much more financially stable than last few seasons and want to bring their best player of history back to the club.
“The rumors about Lionel Messi continue, but as I have mentioned many times, he will not decide his future until 2023. He plans to speak with his family, his lawyers, and everyone around him.” said Fabrizio Romano.
The journalist further explained that Lionel Messi is not currently negotiating with Barcelona or PSG. Romano however also mentioned that Barcelona is tempted by a comeback from Lionel Messi.
The report also suggests that Lionel Messi is currently focused on the upcoming Qatar World Cup 2022 and will take a decision about his future after that.
