Zinedine Zidane Waiting to Become France Manager, Claims Thierry Henry

Thierry Henry believes his former teammate Zinedine Zidane is waiting to become the manager of France national team rather than returning to management with Juventus.

The Italian side have had a below-par start to the season, and defeat to Benfica last night confirmed their elimination from the Champions League.

The Old Lady succumbed to a 4-3 defeat to Benfica in a game they needed to win to keep their hopes of progression to the next stage of the competition alive. This, along with Juventus’ sub-par performances in the Serie A, have led to calls for the club to sack Massimiliano Allegri.

He added: “I don’t think he will go there (Juventus). I think he is waiting for one thing and one thing only. The national team.

Zidane’s last managerial stint was at Real Madrid. The Frenchman returned to Real Madrid as their manager in March 2019. Zidane led Real Madrid to La Liga glory in the 2019/20 season.

However, Real Madrid failed to win trophies in the next season. They ended the 2020/21 season trophyless. And Zidane resigned from his job in May 2021.

He has been linked with a number of clubs since, including Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain. But Zidane is still without a team, although he has been tipped to replace Didier Deschamps as France’s manager after the 2022 World Cup.

Meanwhile, Juventus sit eighth in the Serie A points table with 19 points from their first 11 matches in the league this season. They are already 10 points behind table-toppers Napoli.

Juventus have failed to live up to the expectations so far this season, and this has led to calls to replace Allegri.
