Granit Xhaka Reacts After 200 Premier League Appearances for Arsenal
Arsenal midfielder Granit Xhaka made his 200th Premier League appearance for the Gunners in their thrashing of Nottingham Forest on Sunday, and said that the achievement makes hi, proud.
Arsenal hosted Nottingham Forest at the Emirates Stadium in their latest Premier League fixture and registered a comprehensive win. The Gunners smashed the visitors, securing a 5-0 win over Forest.
“Two hundred games in the Premier League for this amazing football club makes me proud,” the 30-year-old said. “It makes me proud for myself, for my team-mates, for the staff I’ve had in the last seven years.
“I feel at home as well so hopefully there’s more to come. Two hundred games, you can’t achieve that from today tomorrow. It needs a lot of hard work, a lot of discipline, a lot of people were included around me for the last seven years and in the end it’s hard work.”
Xhaka has been an important fixture in the Arsenal lineup this season. He has featured in 17 games for the Gunners across all competitions so far this season. That means he has made an appearance in every game Arsenal have played so far this season.
In his 17 appearances for Arsenal this season, Xhaka has scored four goals and registered three assists. He bagged three of those goals and all three assists in the Premier League, where Arsenal sit top of the Premier League points table.
The win over Nottingham Forest took Arsenal back to the Premier League points table. The north London outfit have 31 points from 12 matches in the Premier League this season.
Arsenal have 10 wins, a draw and a defeat in the English top flight this season. Their only league defeat of the season so far came at the hands of Man Utd who registered a 3-1 win. They dropped two more points when they and Southampton played out a 1-1 draw in their previous fixture.
Arsenal enjoy a two-point lead at the top. Man City are second in the table, and the defending Premier League champions have 29 points from 12 matches.
