Adam Zimmer, the Son of Renowned NFL Coach Mike Zimmer, Died at the Age of 38
Corri Zimmer, Adam Zimmer’s sister, revealed his death on Tuesday. At this moment, the circumstances behind Zimmer’s death are unknown.
Adam Zimmer, the son of former Minnesota Vikings coach Mike Zimmer and a 16-year NFL assistant coach, died on Monday at the age of 38.
Adam Zimmer joined the Vikings coaching staff in 2014 when his father was named head coach. He was elevated to co-defensive coordinator in 2020 after six seasons as linebackers coach. After the 2021 season, he, his father, and the majority of the coaching staff were sacked.
Zimmer began his coaching career as an assistant linebackers coach with the New Orleans Saints in 2006. From 2010 through 2012, he worked in a similar capacity for the Kansas City Chiefs.
He joined his father as an assistant defensive backs coach with the Cincinnati Bengals in 2013, during Mike Zimmer’s final season as defensive coordinator, before following him to the Vikings.
“For the past 15 years, our business has had the pleasure of knowing and working with the Zimmer family. We have the utmost respect for Mike and Adam and are deeply grieved by this unfortunate news “Bengals president Mike Brown made the announcement in a statement.
“Mike and Adam were more than simply coaches to us; they were also close friends. At this moment, our thoughts and prayers are with the Zimmer family.”
Zimmer White wrote about the untimely death of family matriarch Vikki Zimmer in 2009 in an Instagram post.
“My brother was one of my best friends,” she added, “particularly after my mother died. He was always there for me and the first person to show up and volunteer at my foundation’s activities.”
