James Maddison Provides Injury Update Ahead of FIFA World Cup
Leicester City midfielder James Maddison has provided an update after he was forced off with an injury during Foxes’ 2-0 win over West Ham in a Premier League fixture on Saturday.
Maddison started for Leicester City in that game, and sent the Foxes 1-0 up in the eighth minute. The English midfielder slammed the ball into the roof of the net to finish off a promising Leicester City attack.
However, he was subbed off in the 25th minute after picking up an apparent injury. With the FIFA World Cup a week away, the injury cast his chances of going into the quadrennial event into doubt.
Maddison took to Twitter to offer an update on the injury. He played down fears he has picked up a serious injury.
Meanwhile, Maddison has been impressive for Leicester City in the 22/23 season. The 25-year-old has featured in 14 games across Premier League and EFL Cup for Leicester this season.
Maddison has racked up seven goals for Leicester City from 13 appearances in the English top-flight in the 22/23 campaign. He has also registered four assists for Leicester.
Meanwhile, Leicester City sits 12th in the Premier League points table. They have played 15 matches in the English top-flight this season and have 17 points from those fixtures.
Leicester City have scored 25 goals in the Premier League so far this season, 28% of which was scored by Maddison.
Meanwhile, England are in Group B at the 2022 FIFA World Cup. The Three Lions are alongside Iran, USA, and Wales in Group B. They kick off their 2022 World Cup campaign by taking on Iran.
England and USA will then square off in both sides’ second group match of the campaign. The Three Lions will then battle Wales in their third and final match of the 2022 World Cup.
