Real Madrid Scouting Former Player Takefusa Kubo at Fifa World Cup

Kubo was on Real Madrid’s books for three years between 2019 and 2022. However, he failed to break into the Blancos senior squad, failing to make a single first-team appearance. Kubo was loaned out to RCD Mallorca, Villareal, and FC Getafe respectively by the Madrid outfit to gain first-team experience.

The 21-year-old winger left the Blancos permanently to join Real Sociedad during the summer transfer window of 2022. Kubo has played 12 La Liga games this season, registering two goals and two assists.

According to Spanish outfit Sport, Real Madrid are keeping an eye on the performances of former player Takefusa Kubo at the FIFA World Cup.

The Blancos regularly use the FIFA World Cup as an opportunity to scout players. They signed Mesut Ozil after the 2010 World Cup, James Rodriguez, and Toni Kroos after the 2018 World Cup; and James Rodriguez after the 2018 World Cup.

It wouldn’t be surprising to see them break the bank again after the ongoing edition of the tournament. Apart from Kubo, Real Madrid are also scouting Manchester United defender Diogo Dalot at the FIFA World Cup.

I don’t remember how long I’ve known them, but Eric was already there [at the Barcelona academy] when I arrived and Ansu, I think he came a year later.”

Kubo first arrived in Spain with Barcelona in 2011. The Japanese winger spent four seasons in the Blaugrana’s youth academy but failed to impress the senior team coaches. He left the Catalonian club to move back to his home country with FC Tokyo in 2015.
