Casemiro Hits Out at Fans Who Celebrated Neymar’s Injury at FIFA World Cup
Casemiro: Brazil national football team midfielder Casemiro has hit out at fans who celebrated his teammate Neymar’s injury at FIFA World Cup 2022.
Brazil got their FIFA World Cup campaign off to a winning start when they breezed past Serbia with a 2-0 victory. However, the South American heavyweights were dealt an injury blow as Neymar limped off the pitch in the 80th minute of the match. Following Neymar’s injury, the Brazilian superstar was replaced by Antony.
It has since been reported that Neymar will miss the remainder of Brazil’s group-stage matches at FIFA World Cup. Due to the injury, he missed Brazil’s 1-0 win over Switzerland. That win sealed Brazil’s qualification for round-of-16.
Neymar’s injury is also expected to rule him out of Brazil’s final group-stage match at World Cup 2022. Brazil takes on Cameroon in their next match and are likely to be without Neymar.
While Neymar’s injury came as a blow to Brazil, there were many fans who celebrated it and trolled the Brazilian on social media. Neymar’s Brazil teammate Casemiro have now hit out at those.
In Neymar’s injury-enforced absence, Casemiro stepped up for Brazil against Switzerland in a Group G fixture at FIFA World Cup 2022. The Manchester United midfielder scored the only goal of the game as Brazil defeated Switzerland 1-0.
Casemiro scored a stunner of a goal in the 83rd minute of the match, with a finely struck half-volley. The ball took a slight deflection from a Switzerland defender on its way into the net, but it was a sensational goal. More importantly, it earned Brazil three points and sealed their FIFA World Cup 2022 round-of-16 qualification.
In the process, Brazil also became the second team to qualify for World Cup 2022 round-of-16. France were the first side to seal their spot in the next stage of the competition.
