Odion Ighalo Hopes Cristiano Ronaldo Would Come to Saudi Arabia
Odion Ighalo said he hopes Cristiano Ronaldo will come to Saudi Arabia amid reports that Saudi Arabian club Al Nassr has offered the Portuguese superstar a proposal.
Cristiano Ronaldo is currently a free agent after Manchester United terminated his contract by mutual agreement. CR7 sealed a return to Manchester United in the summer of 2021. He re-joined the Red Devils on a two-year contract with an option for a further year.
But his stay at Man Utd has been cut-short after the two parties agreed to mutually terminate his contract. Cristiano Ronaldo had effectively burned the bridges with the Old Trafford outfit prior to that.
Ronaldo had sat down for an interview with Piers Morgan, in which he heavily criticized Manchester United, the Glazer family – the owners of the club, Erik ten Hag – the manager of the club – etc.
Odion Ighalo, however, also said the ‘hugely ambitious’ Cristiano Ronaldo would want to play in a Champions League team. However, he also added he would love for Ronaldo to come to Saudi Arabia, which he said would boost the country’s league.
“Cristiano Ronaldo is hugely ambitious, and I think he will want to play in a Champions League team and end his career well, but you never can say,” Odion Ighalo told The Athletic.
“He has the decision to make. I wish him all the best in that decision, and hopefully, he does come to Saudi Arabia.
“I would love for him to come to Saudi because he would boost the league and add more fanbase to the league. People who aren’t already watching will start to engage with the league and see something they are missing.”
Cristiano Ronaldo has only scored one goal for Portugal so far at Qatar 2022. That came in their first match – a 3-2 win over Ghana, in which converted a penalty.
