Spain vs Morocco: David De Gea Shares Post on Instagram Minutes After Spain’s FIFA World Cup 2022 Exit

The Spain lost in a penalty shootout to Morocco in the FIFA World Cup 2022 round of 16 clashes after Spain vs Morocco drew blank in the normal time and extra time.

Spain, who qualified for the round of 16 after finishing second in Group E, missed all three penalties they took in the shootout in Spain vs Morocco match. It was Pablo Sarbia, Carlos Soler and Sergio Busquets who stepped up to take Spain’s penalties in the shootout of Spain vs Morocco match. While Sarabia hit the post from the spot, Soler and Busquets saw their shots saved by the impressive Morocco goalkeeper Yassine Bounou.

Morocco took four kicks in the shootout, and converted three of those in the Spain vs Morocco shootout. The African nation converted their first two kicks in the penalty shootout before Unai Simon saved their third. However, Achraf Hakimi, who took their fourth kick, sealed their place in the FIFA World Cup 2022 and confirmed Spain’s exit from the quadrennial event.

Spain manager Luis Enrique named three goalkeepers in the country’s squad for FIFA World Cup 2022. Those three were Unai Simon of Athletic Bilbao, Robert Sanchez of Brighton & Hove Albion and David Raya of Brentford.

David de Gea has not featured for Spain since October 2020, and hence, his exclusion from their squad for the Qatar World Cup 2022 did not come as a surprise to many.

Spain vs Morocco: It could be a coincidence. Manchester United posted that Instagram post featuring David De Gea less than half an hour before the Spanish goalkeeper shared it on their Instagram story.

It’s possible that David De Gea shared it in his story immediately or minutes after seeing it, and there is nothing more to Spain vs Morocco match
