Reece James Posts Emotional Message After Latest Injury

England national football team and Chelsea full-back Reece James has labelled 2022 as the toughest year of his career so far after suffering an injury in Chelsea’s final game of the year.

Reece James had sustained a knee injury during Chelsea’s Champions League group stage match against AC Milan in October and missed the remainder of the Blues’ pre-World Cup fixtures.

He also missed the FIFA World Cup 2022 due to injury as England national football team manager Gareth Southgate chose not to name the Chelsea full-back in the squad for the quadrennial event.

However, he had since recovered from the injury and regained fitness. He returned to action when Chelsea took on Bournemouth in their first Premier League fixture after the winter break. However, Reece James was forced off the pitch in the 53rd minute with an injury. He received treatment on the pitch before being substituted, with Cesar Azpilicueta replacing him.

The 23-year-old took to Twitter to post an emotional message following the injury he sustained in Chelsea’s win over Bournemouth.

Reece James called 2022 the toughest year of his year so far and thanked him for all the support he has received.

It’s naturally affected me mentally, I’m currently just tryna deal with the cards I’ve been dealt. I hope your end of the year is filled with peace, joy & happiness.

Meanwhile, Chelsea manager Graham Potter confirmed after their win over Bournemouth that Reece James’ injury is in the same place as his previous knee problem.

James has featured in 12 games for Chelsea so far in the 22/23 season. Eight of those appearances came in the Premier League, with the rest coming in the Champions League. He also has two goals and two assists to his name in the 22/23 season.

Meanwhile, James recently renewed his contract with Chelsea. The England international signed a six-year contract with the west London outfit in September this year. That means his current contract with the Blues runs until 2028.
