Marcus Rashford Explains Why Erik ten Hag Dropped Him From Starting XI vs Wolves
Manchester United attacker Marcus Rashford has revealed why manager Erik ten Hag dropped him from the starting XI in their 1-0 win over Wolves in the English Premier League.
Marcus Rashford started the game on the bench as Erik ten Hag confirmed the decision to drop him from the starting XI was a disciplinary one. However, Marcus Rashford would come off the bench in the second half to score Man Utd’s winner against Wolves as they ended the year with a victory.
Erik ten Hag introduced Marcus Rashford at the start of the second half and the England international would go on to score the only goal of the game in the 76th minute.
Speaking after the match, Marcus Rashford explained why Erik ten Hag dropped him from the starting XI. The England international revealed that he was late to a team meeting after he had ‘overslept’.
When asked for an explanation, Marcus Rashford said: “I was a little bit late for a meeting. I slept in, I overslept. It can happen.”
Meanwhile, Manchester United moved up to fourth in the Premier League points table with the win over Wolves. The Red Devils have 32 points from 16 matches in the English top flight so far this season.
Man Utd are 11 points behind table-toppers Arsenal, who have 43 points from 13 matches. And, they are four points short of defending champions Manchester City, who sit second.
The Red Devils are only two points short of Newcastle United, who occupy the third place having played a game more than Manchester United have.
Erik ten Hag and co. will take on Bournemouth in the Premier League in their first game of 2023, and the Old Trafford outfit will be aiming to make it four wins in a row in the English top flight.
