Enzo Fernandez: Chelsea in Direct Talks With Benfica Over Transfer Deal
He has been linked with a move away from Benfica in the upcoming January transfer window, with Chelsea at the front of the queue to acquire the services of the highly-rated 21-year-old.
Chelsea are looking to bolster their squad in the January transfer window and are reportedly keen on signing Enzo Fernandez, who won the young player of the tournament award for his performances at FIFA World Cup 2022.
The Italian journalist also reports that Chelsea wants to offer Benfica ‘a huge transfer fee instead of paying release clause in one solution’.
Meanwhile, Fernandez reportedly has a €120m release clause in his contract with Benfica.
Meanwhile, Benfica manager Roger Schmidt has said he will respect any decision that Fernandez takes with regard to his future amid transfer interest from some of Europe’s top clubs.
Enzo Fernandez’s current deal with Benfica runs until the end of June 2027. That means the Argentine midfielder has more than four years left on his deal with the Portuguese outfit.
However, he is expected to leave Benfica in the January transfer window or next summer given the transfer interest he has attracted.
