Rio Ferdinand Urges Harry Maguire to Leave Manchester United
Rio Ferdinand has urged Harry Maguire to leave Manchester United as he suggested manager Erik ten Hag is disrespecting the club captain.
Harry Maguire has also made six appearances in other competitions for Manchester United in the 22/23 season. He featured in four games for Manchester United in the Europa League, and one each in the EFL Cup and FA Cup.
Despite Harry Maguire’s availability, Erik ten Hag started Luke Shaw, who primarily plies his trade as a left-back, as a centre-back in three of Man Utd’s last four games.
That is despite Harry Maguire enjoying a rather impressive FIFA World Cup 2022 campaign with England. He was one of England’s best performers at the quadrennial event.
And, Rio Ferdinand, who is a Manchester United legend, believes Harry Maguire should leave the Old Trafford outfit immediately.
Rio Ferdinand added: “I’d want to strangle Patrice! I would’ve smashed Patrice in training to make sure he’s not available, and I’d be going to the manager and saying, ‘are you taking the p*ss out of me, boss?’. I’d have walked straight into the manager’s office and said, ‘you’re disrespecting me’.
“Harry Maguire’s got to move. I think he stays because of the games and they can’t get someone else in. He plays in the cup games.”
Meanwhile, Man Utd have resumed their campaign after the winter break in spectacular fashion. The Red Devils have won all five matches they have played since club football action resumed after the FIFA World Cup 2022.
