Besiktas President Insists They Will Part Ways With Wout Weghorst Only If They Find Replacement
Besiktas president Ahmet Nur Cebi has insisted that they will not let Wout Weghorst leave the club unless they agree on the terms of his departure and find a replacement for the Netherlands international.
Wout Weghorst currently plays for Besiktas on a season-long loan deal from Premier League club Burnley. The Turkish outfit also have the option to sign him on a permanent contract.
They are interested in the services of Cameroonian attacker Vincent Aboubakar to replace Weghorst. Vincent Aboubakar is set to become a free agent with his contract with Al-Nassr expected to be terminated.
“If we agree on the terms after getting in a quality striker, then we will send Weghorst away. Otherwise, Weghorst will stay in the team.”
Meanwhile, Weghorst appeared to wave goodbye to Besiktas fans while celebrating his goal in their 2-1 win over Kasimpasa last week. Weghorst, who joined Besiktas at the start of the 22/23 season, has been impressive for the Turkish outfit.
Since joining Besiktas, he has featured in 18 games across all competitions for the Turkish behemoths and has racked up nine goals. He has also amassed four assists for Besiktas. Meanwhile, Besiktas will take on Konyaspor in a league fixture in their next game.
