Jorginho: Arsenal Agree Transfer With Chelsea
Arsenal have agreed transfer fee on a deal to sign Chelsea midfielder Jorginho on the 2023 January transfer window deadline day, according to reports.
The Gunners have been looking for a midfielder to reinforce their squad before the January transfer window closes as they aim to win the Premier League 22/23 title.
Brighton’s reluctance to part ways with Moises Caicedo has seen Arsenal turn their attention to Jorginho, who is due to be out of contract at the end of June this year.
Fabrizio Romano also reports that Jorginho has already accepted to join Arsenal. The Italian midfielder has agreed on personal terms with Arsenal and will sign a contract that runs until 2024 with an option to extend it by another year, according to Romano.
The Italian journalist also reveals that Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta, who is a big fan of Jorginho, played a key role in the transfer deal.
Jorginho has featured in 25 matches across all competitions for Chelsea so far in the 22/23 season. 18 of those have come in the Premier League, with the midfielder starting in 15 of those.
Arsenal will be hoping their addition of Jorginho would further help them in their pursuit of the Premier League title. The Gunners are top of the Premier League points table with a five-point lead over second-placed Manchester City.
Meanwhile, Chelsea remains interested in acquiring the services of Enzo Fernandez before the January transfer window closes and are in negotiations with Benfica over a transfer deal.
It remains to be seen if Chelsea will manage to pull off the deal for Enzo Fernandez before the January transfer window slams shut.
