Erik ten Hag Jumps to the Defense of Wout Weghorst
Erik ten Hag: Manchester United manager has jumped to the defense of Wout Weghorst, who the Red Devils signed on loan from Burnley for the remainder of the 22/23 season during the January transfer window.
Manchester United looked to bolster their attacking department in the 2023 January transfer window and were linked with a number of players. They eventually signed Wout Weghorst on loan from Burnley.
He was playing for Turkish outfit Besiktas on loan from Burnley when Manchester United came calling. Eventually, Besiktas terminated Wout Weghorst’s contract as Manchester United agreed to pay the Turkish outfit a compensation fee.
Speaking ahead of Manchester United’s Premier League clash with Leeds United, Erik ten Hag leaped to the defense of Wout Weghorst, who he said is the player who ‘makes players around him play better’.
“He will score, but in the meantime do the other stuff, do it good. It is about not scoring individual but scoring from the team and the team has to win. He is doing a very good job at this moment in several aspects of football.”
Meanwhile, Manchester United heads into the game against Leeds United on the back of their 2-1 win over Crystal Palace. The Red Devils now have 42 points from 21 matches in the Premier League so far this season and sit third in the points table.
Meanwhile, the match between Manchester United and Leeds United kicks off at 1:30 am Indian Standard Time on February 9.
