Rodrygo Had Transfer Agreement With Barcelona Before Joining Real Madrid
Real Madrid attacker Rodrygo has revealed that he had a transfer agreement with Barcelona before signing for Los Blancos.
Real Madrid reached an agreement with Santos for the transfer of Rodrygo in June 2018, with the highly-rated Brazilian youngster joining the Spanish behemoths in June 2019.
He also described learning about Real Madrid’s transfer interest in him as one of the happiest moments of his life. The 22-year-old Brazilian international also revealed it was easy for him to choose between Barcelona and Real Madrid.
“But it was all agreed with Barcelona, it was a surprise for me, I didn’t expect Real Madrid to come. It was a scare but then it was one of the happiest moments of my life.”
Since signing for Real Madrid, Rodrygo has made 140 appearances for the defending La Liga champions. He has also racked up a respectable total of 28 goals across all competitions for Real Madrid.
Rodrygo has featured in 32 games across all competitions for Real Madrid so far in the ongoing 22/23 campaign. He has also amassed 10 goals and six assists in those appearances.
18 of those 32 appearances have come in La Liga, where he has scored four goals and made five assists for Real Madrid in the 22/23 season. He has also scored three goals and bagged an assist for Real Madrid in the Champions League 22/23 campaign.
Meanwhile, Rodrygo has a contract that runs until 2025 with Real Madrid. That means he has more than two years left on his current contract with the Spanish behemoths.
But he could have been playing for Real Madrid’s fierce El Clasico rivals FC Barcelona had Los Blancos not come calling for the Brazilian youngster when he was plying his trade for Santos.
