Erik ten Hag Lavishes Praise on Bruno Fernandes’ Leadership Qualities
Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has lavished praise on Bruno Fernandes, stating the Portuguese attacker is a great example for everyone in the Red Devils squad.
Bruno Fernandes has established himself as one of Manchester United’s most important players ever since he signed for the Old Trafford outfit in the January transfer window of 2020.
Although Harry Maguire is Manchester United’s club captain, the England international is no longer a regular starter at the Old Trafford outfit. In his absence, Bruno Fernandes has worn the captain’s armband at Manchester United.
Speaking to reporters, Erik ten Hag lavished praise on Bruno Fernandes’ leadership qualities. The Manchester United manager said he was, as a captain, an example on the pitch with the energy he puts in.
“He’s a great example. He can match and cope with the load standards that are really high and can take a lot of games. He’s a great example for everyone in the squad.”
Bruno Fernandes has featured in 35 games across all competitions for Manchester United so far this season. He has started in 34 of those, which shows how a regular starter he has been for Manchester United under Erik ten Hag.
Bruno Fernandes has also racked up seven goals and eight assists for Manchester United in those matches. Five of his goals and four of his assists have come in the Premier League, where he has appeared in 22 games for the Red Devils this season.
Bruno Fernandes has a contract until 2026 with Manchester United. That means he has more than three years left on his current deal with the Premier League club.
Meanwhile, Manchester United currently sits third in the Premier League points table. They are only behind table-toppers Arsenal and defending champions Manchester City. Manchester United have 46 points from 23 matches in the Premier League so far this season. They trail Arsenal, who sit atop the table, by eight points.
