Xavi Says Barcelona & Manchester City Are The Most Attacking Teams in Europe

Xavi has claimed that Barcelona, alongside Manchester City, are the most attacking team in Europe.

The Catalan outfit, however, were knocked out of the Champions League at the group stage. However, they have a shot at European glory this season. Barcelona’s third-place finish in Champions League Group C earned them a place in the Europa League knockout play-off draw, where they were drawn against Manchester United. They have already played the first of the two-legged tie, with the game ending in a 2-2 draw.

Speaking ahead of Barcelona’s La Liga match against Cadiz, Xavi said that he does not like the 4-4-2 formation and that he has not used that before.

He also claimed Barcelona are the most attacking team in Europe alongside Manchester City and termed suggestions that his team is defensive as ‘unbelievable’.

Against Real, for example, it was a very clear 3-4-3 because they play in a diamond formation in midfield and we had to match them. I’ve heard that we are a defensive team, it’s unbelievable. We are the most attacking team in Europe, along with City. We play 3-4-3 or 4-3-3, but never 4-4-2.

Meanwhile, Barcelona will be able to restore an eight-point lead over Real Madrid if they win the match against Cadiz. If Barcelona picks up all three points from the fixture, it will leave them with 59 points from 22 matches.

Meanwhile, the match between Barcelona and Cadiz will kick off at 1:30 am Indian Standard Time on February 20.
