Nacho Provides Update on His Real Madrid Future

Real Madrid defender Nacho has said he will take a decision with regards to his future at the Spanish club, with his current contract due to expire at the end of June 2023.

Nacho has not yet taken a decision on whether or not to extend his contract with Real Madrid beyond the end of the current campaign. According to Fabrizio Romano, Nacho has told COPE that Real Madrid have told him he can renew his contract with the club if he wants.

The Real Madrid defender also revealed he was upset at the beginning of the season, presumably due to the limited game time he had at the club.

Nacho has so far featured in 25 games across all competitions for Real Madrid so far in the ongoing 22/23 campaign. However, only 15 of those have been as a starter with the other 10 being appearances off the bench.

His most recent appearance for Real Madrid came in their defeat of Liverpool in the UEFA Champions League round of 16 first leg. He came off the bench in the 27th minute to replace the injured David Alaba.

It was an impressive display from Nacho against Liverpool, and it even earned him praise from the Reds’ manager Jurgen Klopp.

Meanwhile, Nacho has so far made 300 appearances for Real Madrid senior team across all competitions. He has won the Champions League five times with Real Madrid and the La Liga four times with the Spanish behemoths.

Nacho has also won the FIFA Club World Cup five times, UEFA Super Cup and Spanish Super Cup thrice each and Copa del Rey once with Real Madrid.

It remains to be seen what decision Nacho will take with regards to his Real Madrid future.
