Ronald Araujo Trained Separately in Barcelona’s Final Training Session Ahead of Almeria Trip

FC Barcelona defender Ronald Araujo trained separately in the team’s final training session before traveling to Almeria for their next La Liga game.

Barcelona, who sit atop the La Liga points table, will take on Almeria in their next match in the Spanish top-flight. The Catalan outfit will be eyeing to return to winning ways following their 2-1 defeat to Manchester United in the Europa League, which knocked them out of the competition.

Ronald Araujo has been named in the Barcelona squad for their match against Almeria. Barcelona manager Xavi also confirmed in his pre-match press conference ahead of their match against Almeria that the defender is 100% ready for the fixture.

However, his inclusion in the Barcelona squad for the match against Almeria is an indication that there are no serious concerns over the fitness of the defender.

Ronald Araujo had featured for Barcelona in their 2-1 defeat to Manchester United in the Europa League knockout play-off second leg. The 23-year-old defender started for Barcelona against Manchester United but was subbed off late in the game, with Marcos Alonso replacing him in the 82nd minute.

Meanwhile, it remains to be seen if Xavi will field Ronald Araujo against Almeria or give the defender a rest.

Ronald Araujo, meanwhile, has featured in 18 games across all competitions for Barcelona this season. He would have probably made more appearances for the Catalan outfit this season if he had not had a spell on the sidelines due to an injury.

Meanwhile, Barcelona will be aiming to extend their lead at the top of the La Liga table when they face Almeria. Second-placed Real Madrid dropped points against Atletico Madrid, and Barcelona can go 10 points clear of their El Clasico rivals if they defeat Almeria.

Barcelona currently have 59 points from 22 matches while Real Madrid, who are the defending champions, have 52 points from 23 matches. Barcelona have a game in hand and if they earn all three points from the fixture, it would leave Real Madrid further behind in the La Liga title race.
