Manchester United Celebrate Carabao Cup Win as Six-Year Trophy Drought Ended

Manchester United put an end to their six-year trophy drought as the Red Devils defeated Newcastle United 2-0 in the EFL Cup final to lift the trophy.

Manchester United and Newcastle United squared off at Wembley in the final of the EFL Cup, and it was the Old Trafford outfit who emerged triumphant. First-half goals from Casemiro and Marcus Rashford gave Man Utd a two-goal lead, which they maintained for the rest of the match to see it out and lift the EFL Cup trophy.

Casemiro sent Manchester United ahead in the 33rd minute, heading the ball into the Newcastle United net from a Luke Shaw cross. Marcus Rashford, who is Man Utd’s top goalscorer this season, made it 2-0 in the 39th minute.

It was understandably a joyous occasion for Man Utd as they finally ended their six-year-long wait to clinch a major trophy.

Manchester United celebrated wildly after their EFL Cup and understandably so. Fred popped a champagne bottle in the Manchester United dressing room as they celebrated the title win.

Antony and Lisandro Martinez danced with Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag as they celebrated the EFL Cup title win. The two players joined Man Utd in the summer after Erik ten Hag became the club’s manager. Erik ten Hag had previously managed them at Ajax.

Former Manchester United manager and one of football’s greatest managers ever, Sir Alex Ferguson, also applauded Erik ten Hag for guiding the Red Devils to their first-ever title win in six years.

Manchester United also remains in contention for the Europa League, Premier League, and FA Cup titles. As aforementioned, they have progressed to the round of 16 of the Europa League. They are also in the fifth round of the FA Cup and while they sit third in the Premier League points table, only behind table-toppers Arsenal and defending champions Manchester City.

Man Utd will face West Ham United in the fifth round of the FA Cup in their next match.
