Manchester United fans blasted the refereeing decision in a draw against Southampton. The Red Devils played out a 0-0 draw against the Saints in a Premier League game at Old Trafford on Sunday.

Both teams were level when Marcus Rashford put a cross into the box from the left wing. Armel Bella-Kotchap blocked it with his arm, drawing appeals from Manchester United players for a penalty. However, no spot kick was awarded even after the VAR check. Casemiro was also sent off during the game for a tackle on Carlos Alcaraz.

The Red Devils fans fume after being denied a penalty for handball against Southampton. Manchester United fan page ‘UF’ posted a complied video of penalty decisions that went against the Red Devils this term.

Another user tweeted:

Erik ten Hag also slams officials for denying his team a penalty. He said: “Definitely [a penalty]. There’s no doubt. I don’t know why VAR didn’t interrupt.”

Former Liverpool midfielder Danny Murphy wants Manchester United to appoint Marcus Rashford as their permanent captain. Erik ten Hag is expected to select the Red Devils’ new captain at the end of the season as Harry Maguire is struggling to secure his place in the starting XI.

Manchester United are currently third in the Premier League table, with 50 points from 26 games. They will next lock horns against Real Betis in the UEFA Europa League before facing Fulham in the FA Cup on March 19.
