Real Madrid goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois said they will keep fighting for La Liga 22/23 title until the end but admitted winning it is difficult but not impossible.

Real Madrid, who are the defending La Liga champions, now trail Barcelona by 12 points in the race for the title after they slumped to a 2-1 defeat to the Catalan outfit in their most recent fixture.

Against Barcelona, Real Madrid took an early lead through an own goal conceded by Ronald Araujo. Barcelona pulled off a comeback to earn all three points from the fixture, courtesy of goals from Sergi Roberto and Franck Kessie.

Speaking after the match, Thibaut Courtois expressed optimism that Real Madrid are still in the race for the La Liga title.

Thibaut Courtois also said Real Madrid delivered a good performance in the game against Barcelona despite the defeat.

He said: “We put in a good performance and both teams had chances at the end. We went ahead and took good control of the game, but they scored in the last minute of the first half. We played well after the break.

Thibaut Courtois also lamented that Real Madrid did not make the most chances they had. He said: “We had chances and we didn’t make the most of them. It’s a shame that Asensio’s goal was disallowed. We went out to win the game but left space on the counter and they got the goal.

Real Madrid remains in contention for Copa del Rey and Champions League titles. They will take on Barcelona in Copa del Rey’s semi-final second leg in April. Real Madrid suffered a 1-0 defeat in the first leg and have to turn the tie around in the second leg.

In the Champions League, they have qualified for the quarter-finals, where they will be facing Chelsea.
