Chelsea to Interview At Least Five Candidates to Replace Graham Potter

Chelsea are planning to interview at least five candidates as they look to find a replacement for Graham Potter, who they sacked on Sunday following their 2-0 defeat to Aston Villa in their most recent fixture.

The defeat to Aston Villa saw Chelsea drop to 11th in the Premier League points table. The Blues find themselves in an unenviable position despite spending big in the summer transfer window of 2022 and the January transfer window of 2023.

Since becoming the Chelsea manager, Graham Potter managed the Stamford Bridge outfit in 31 games. Chelsea won 12, drew 8, and lost 11 of those matches. In Premier League, Chelsea have 38 points from 28 matches.

Chelsea have named Bruno Saltor as their interim manager, and The Telegraph reports that the Blues will try to interview at least five candidates for the role of the next permanent manager of the west London outfit.

However, Chelsea are determined to go through an exhaustive process to find their manager, and, as things stand, the job is not Julian Nagelsmann’s to turn down. Nagelsmann is currently available after Bayern Munich recently sacked him.

The Telegraph also reports that Chelsea are expected to interview both Mauricio Pochettino and Luis Enrique for the role of the club’s new permanent manager. Both Pochettino and Enrique are currently out of work.

The report also states that talks are likely to be sought with representatives of Luciano Spalletti, who currently manages Serie A side Napoli, and at least one more candidate.

Chelsea will take on Liverpool in a Premier League fixture in their next game and will face Real Madrid in the Champions League quarter-finals next week. However, Chelsea have not placed a timescale on their search for their next permanent manager.
