Jamie Carragher Predicts Liverpool to Defeat Arsenal
Jamie Carragher has predicted a win for Liverpool when the Reds take on Premier League table-toppers Arsenal at Anfield in their next fixture in the English top-flight.
Arsenal and Liverpool will square off in the Premier League on Sunday, in a game that will kick off at 9:00 pm Indian Standard Time. Arsenal are flying high in the Premier League and are the favourites to win the title.
Liverpool, meanwhile, have had an underwhelming campaign so far this season. The Merseyside outfit languish at eighth in the Premier League points table and trail Arsenal by 29 points.
Jamie Carragher admitted that Arsenal have been much better than Liverpool in the current campaign, but has predicted a win for the Merseyside outfit at Anfield.
“Could the atmosphere get to the Arsenal players? There are still a lot of young players there and some of the best teams come to Anfield and can’t cope. There’s no shame in that.
“I can never go against Liverpool at Anfield – I don’t think I ever have, I don’t think I ever will – so I’ll go 2-1 Liverpool.”
Arsenal currently enjoys an eight-point lead at the top of the Premier League points table. Mikel Arteta and co. have 72 points from 29 matches in the English top flight so far this season.
Defending champions Manchester City sit second. Pep Guardiola and co. have 64 points from 28 matches. Manchester City have a game in hand over Arsenal. If Manchester City win their upcoming game and Arsenal loses to Liverpool, the former will close the gap on the Gunners to five points while also having a game in hand.
Meanwhile, a defeat to Arsenal at Anfield would be a blow to Liverpool’s hopes of a top-six finish in the Premier League this season. Jurgen Klopp and Co. will be aiming to return to winning ways when they host Arsenal.
