Carlo Ancelotti: I Wouldn’t Swap Places With Barcelona Manager Xavi
Carlo Ancelotti has reiterated he is happy at Real Madrid when asked if he would swap places with Barcelona manager Xavi.
Carlo Ancelotti is contracted with Real Madrid until 2024, but there is uncertainty surrounding his future at the Spanish club. He has been linked with the job of Brazil’s national football team manager at the end of the season.
Despite the speculation surrounding his future, Carlo Ancelotti has time and again revealed his desire to stay at Real Madrid beyond the end of the current campaign.
Speaking at a press conference ahead of the Real Madrid vs Villarreal clash in La Liga, Carlo Ancelotti was asked if he would swap places with Barcelona manager Xavi.
Carlo Ancelotti was blunt in his answer as he revealed he is happy at Real Madrid. He said: “I don’t want to swap with anyone because I’m very happy here at the best club in the world, in a place where people love me, there’s a lot of affection. So, I don’t want to change.
“That’s what I’m thinking right now. I’m excited because the season is alive, we’ll play our fourth final this season. Right now we’re happy, we have to finish well, it’s true that we’re behind in the league because Barcelona have done very well, we have four points fewer than last season and they have many more.
“We’re satisfied. To finish the season well would mean winning more trophies, that would mean a spectacular season.”
Meanwhile, Real Madrid sits second in La Liga points table but trails table-toppers Barcelona by 12 points. Real Madrid, who are the defending La Liga champions, have 59 points from 27 matches while Barcelona have 71 points from 27 matches. Carlo Ancelotti, however, has not yet ruled Real Madrid out of the La Liga title race.
Real Madrid also remains in contention for Champions League and Copa del Rey titles. In Copa del Rey, they have reached the final where they will face Osasuna. In the Champions League, Real Madrid will take on Chelsea in the quarter-finals of the competition.
