Erik ten Hag Provides Manchester United Injury Update Ahead of Copenhagen Clash
In the latest Manchester United injury update, manager Erik ten Hag has confirmed Sergio Reguilon could return for the Red Devils in their upcoming game against FC Copenhagen in the Champions League group stage.
Sergio Reguilon joined Manchester United in the summer transfer window of 2023, on a season-long loan deal from Premier League rivals Tottenham Hotspur. However, Reguilon has featured in just three games so far for Manchester United in the current campaign.
The 26-year-old Spanish left-back has missed five games for Manchester United due to injury and illness. However, he has returned to training and Erik ten Hag reveals the player could be in contention to face FC Copenhagen.
Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag fielded Victor Lindelof at left-back against Sheffield United in their most recent fixture. This was in the absence of Luka Shaw, Tyrell Malacia, and Sergio Reguilon.
Providing a Manchester United injury update at a press conference on Monday, Erik ten Hag confirmed Sergio Reguilon is back in training. The Manchester United manager also revealed that Reguilon missed the match against Sheffield United due to illness.
“Yes, we hope. I said it also last Friday, Sergio, he got ill for Saturday but he was fit, he trained all week last week,” Erik ten Hag said when asked if any Manchester United players could be back in time for their upcoming match.
“Yesterday he was, for a part, back in training, today he will train and we have to assess if he is ready and game fit if he can be involved in the squad. We have to wait for that. We have to see if he is fit enough to be part of the squad for tomorrow.“
In another Manchester United update, Casemiro could make his return against Manchester City in the Premier League later this month. The Brazilian midfielder had missed the match against Sheffield United due to an injury.
Casemiro, meanwhile, will miss the upcoming Champions League match against FC Copenhagen due to suspension. He had picked up a red card during Man Utd’s 2-3 defeat to Galatasaray.
Meanwhile, the match between Man Utd and Galatasaray will kick off at 12:30 a.m. Indian Standard Time on October 25.
