Andy Robertson Explains Why Mohamed Salah Is Not in Liverpool’s Leadership Group
Liverpool defender Andy Robertson has revealed why Mohamed Salah is not part of the club’s leadership group. Mohamed Salah is currently among the most talented players in the world.
He has been a revelation since joining the Reds from AS Roma in the summer transfer window of 2017. The Egypt international has played 283 games(in all competitions) for the Merseyside outfit so far, registering 173 goals and 69 assists.
He helped Liverpool win one Premier League title and one UEFA Champions League trophy, among other honours. Mohamed Salah currently boasts three Premier League Golden Boots in his trophy cabinet and was also named Premier League Player of the Season in 2017-18.
“We have international captains, and Mo is one of the biggest leaders in our changing room without being in the leadership group. He helps us all. He sets standards by being one of the best players in the world.”
The England international’s existing contract is set to expire at the end of the current season. Talks over a new deal have stalled in recent months. He is likely to leave on a Bosman deal next summer.
Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain joined Liverpool from Arsenal in the summer window of 2017. He has featured in 143 games (in all competitions) for Liverpool so far, scoring 18 goals and assisting 15 more.
Liverpool will next lock horns against Brighton & Hove Albion in the fourth round of the FA Cup on January 27.
