Barcelona Transfer News: Lionel Messi Is Open To A Barca Move

Lionel Messi left Barcelona after 21 years and moved to Paris Saint-Germain for free last summer. His emotional departure from Barcelona sent the football world into a frenzy.

But the union between Messi and PSG hasn’t worked out as planned for either party, as the club hasn’t been able to win the UEFA Champions League.

On the other hand, the captain of Argentina had a hard time getting going in France. He only scored six goals in Ligue 1 during the 2021–22 season. This was the first league season since 2005–2006 in which Messi didn’t score ten or more goals.

The former Barcelona forward did pretty well in Europe’s best club competition, though, scoring five times in the Champions League.

With just one year left on his contract, there have been rumours that he might go back to Barcelona.

Xavi Hernandez, the manager of Barcelona and a former teammate of Messi’s at the Catalan club, has not ruled out a possible return for the Argentine forward. He repeated what president Joan Laporta said, that they hope “Messi’s story is not over” with the club.

Laporta recently added to the rumors when he said, “As president of Barcelona and as a person, I think I owe him.”

Fans of the club now have hope that the legendary player could return to Camp Nou soon because of recent news.

Manu Sainz says that Barcelona will try to get Messi to come back to Camp Nou after the FIFA World Cup in 2022.

This could be the 35-year-old’s last chance to help his home country win football’s top prize.

In 2014, Messi led Argentina to the final of the FIFA World Cup, where they lost to Germany. It will be interesting to see if the experienced forward makes a big move back to Barcelona soon.
