Barcelona Wants to offload Jordi Alba
Upon the arrival of Unai Emery, Alba got his breakthrough and became one of the best fullbacks in La Liga. His consistency earned him a place on the Spanish National team. Alba grabbed the chance with both hands and became the successor of Joan Capdevilla.
The fullback then signed for his boyhood club FC Barcelona and went on to become one of the best left-backs in the world. Despite being a fullback Alba became a big source of Barca’s creativity and has provided a huge number of assists so far. Alba was then included in the leadership group and is right now one of the captains of the team.
The main reason to offload Alba is obviously his big salary. Barcelona have just recovered from a huge financial mess. So at this moment they are looking to reduce the wage cap and are working tirelessly to do so.
If they can sell the defender, they will be successful in achieving their goal. Apart from this, Alba is also past his prime and Barcelona. The sudden rise of Alejandro Balde and the inclusion of Marcos Alonso has put him down in the pecking order.
The left-back has so far made only four appearances for the Catalan giants and has started in only one La Liga match.
Despite being a captain, Alba is no longer a key player on the squad. Barcelona gaffer Xavi Hernandez has already made it clear. Thus if Barcelona can offload him it’s a total win-win situation for them.
Earlier Barcelona accepted a loan move for the Spanish International to Serie-A club Inter Milan. Alba though rejected the move and decided to stay at Camp Nou.
Barcelona will now once again try to convince the left-back to leave the club during the upcoming winter transfer window.
Barcelona have made a great start to their La Liga season. The Blaugrana are currently in second place on the table. They have gathered sixteen points from six matches so far. Barcelona will play Mallorca in their next outing.
