Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti said that the club will decide his future at the end of the ongoing 22/23 season.
Carlo Ancelotti returned to the role of Real Madrid manager in 2021 and has been occupying the position ever since. Ancelotti was the Real Madrid manager between 2013 and 2015, and the Italian tactician is now in his second stint as the manager of the Spanish behemoths.
But there has been speculation surrounding Carlo Ancelotti’s future at Real Madrid. He has been linked with the job of Brazil’s national football team manager. There have also been speculations that Real Madrid could look to move on from Carlo Ancelotti if they do not win any major trophies this season.
Speaking at a press match conference ahead of Real Madrid’s La Liga clash with FC Barcelona, Carlo Ancelotti was asked about his future.
Addressing the question, Carlo Ancelotti revealed he has an impossible dream of staying at Real Madrid for the rest of his life. Ancelotti added that Real Madrid will decide at the end of the season whether or not to retain his services.
“My thought is to continue and what the club decides will be what counts. If they want me, I will enjoy it. If not, I will enjoy it for as long as I have left. I will be grateful for life.”
Real Madrid goes into the game against Barcelona trailing the Catalan outfit by nine points in La Liga. They also suffered a 1-0 defeat to Barcelona in the first leg of the Copa del Rey semi-final.
Carlo Ancelotti admitted that Real Madrid have a disadvantage in both La Liga and Copa del Rey. “We have a disadvantage in the league and in the cup. Not in the Champions League. We’re only thinking about reducing the points tomorrow against Barcelona.”
A defeat at the hands of Barcelona would see Real Madrid trail their fierce rivals by 12 points in the race for the league title. A win, on the other hand, would cut the gap between Barcelona to six points.
