Carlo Ancelotti on Real Madrid Players’ Availability For Liverpool Clash
Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti said they are heading into the Champions League round of 16 first-leg match against Liverpool in good shape and with all the confidence in the world after Los Blancos secured a win over Osasuna in their most recent fixture in La Liga.
Real Madrid, who are the defending champions, inflicted a 2-0 defeat on Osasuna. Federico Valverde sent Real Madrid ahead in the 78th minute of the match before Marco Asensio sealed the win with their second goal of the match, in the 90+2nd minute.
The victory means Real Madrid have reduced the gap on La Liga table toppers Barcelona to five points, although the Catalan outfit will have the opportunity to restore an eight-point lead when they face Cadiz in their next game.
Speaking after Real Madrid’s win over Osasuna, Carlo Ancelotti was asked about the availability of players for the trip to Anfield for the first leg of the Champions League round of 16 tie.
Carlo Ancelotti said Karim Benzema will be fit in time for the match against Liverpool. He also provided an update on Toni Kroos. Ancelotti also said Dani Carvajal is going to play for Real Madrid against Liverpool at Anfield.
Carlo Ancelotti was also satisfied with Real Madrid’s performance in their win over Osasuna.
The Italian tactician said: “It was a well-rounded game, competitive, evenly matched, and well played by both teams. We are very satisfied because the team performed very well, they knew how to suffer and looked for the right moment to score. We are very satisfied.”
The first leg of the Champions League clash between Real Madrid and Liverpool kicks off at 1:30 am IST on February 22.
Liverpool head into the game against Real Madrid on the back of two consecutive wins in the Premier League. Real Madrid, meanwhile, goes into the fixture on the back of four consecutive wins.
