Carlo Ancelotti Provides Update on Real Madrid Trio Ahead of FIFA Club World Cup Semi-Final
Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti has said Thibaut Courtois, Karim Benzema and Eder Militao could recover from their respective injuries in time for the FIFA Club World Cup final.
Thibaut Courtois sustained an injury during the warmup ahead of Real Madrid’s 1-0 defeat to RCD Mallorca in their most recent fixture. Eder Militao and Karim Benzema, meanwhile, suffered injuries during Real Madrid’s 2-0 win over Valencia earlier this month.
However, all three aforementioned players have not sustained any serious injury. Speaking ahead of Real Madrid’s clash with Al-Ahly, Carlo Ancelotti confirmed they could recover in time for FIFA Club World Cup.
Carlo Ancelotti said they have left Thibaut Courtois, Karim Benzema, and Eder Militao in Madrid for the best treatment and said they would see if they are fit to play in the final if Real Madrid qualifies for it.
Carlo Ancelotti also said winning the FIFA Club World Cup title would give a new impetus to Real Madrid for what’s to come in the season.
“The Club World Cup is a very important event. To get here means you have done well. We have a lot of fans here and we want to make them happy. Winning would mean a new impetus for what’s to come,” the Real Madrid manager said.
Meanwhile, Al-Ahly booked their place in the semi-final after securing victories in the first round and second round. They defeated Auckland City 3-0 in the first round and secured a 1-0 win over Seattle Sounders in the second round.
Real Madrid, who are the defending Champions League winners, automatically qualified for the semi-final of the competition.
The match between Real Madrid and Al-Ahly will kick off at 12:30 am Indian Standard Time on February 9.
