Chelsea News: Antonio Rudiger Reacts to Blues’ Decision to Sack Thomas Tuchel
Chelsea news: Former Blues defender Antonio Rudiger has revealed he was ‘surprised’ and ‘sad’ when he learned the Stamford Bridge outfit had parted ways with Thomas Tuchel.
Chelsea had a mixed start to the season and they sacked Tuchel following their defeat to Dinamo Zagreb in the Champions League. The decision came as a surprise to many after a summer in which they had backed Tuchel heavily.
Chelsea could only win three of their first six matches in the Premier League this season. They suffered two defeats and shared points in one match. They have 10 points from six matches and the Blues sit seventh in the points table.
The west London outfit have replaced Thomas Tuchel with Graham Potter since. Potter has left Brighton & Hove Albion to join Chelsea.
Rudiger noted that Tuchel made the impossible possible, referring to Chelsea’s Champions League title win the season the German manager arrived at the club.
Meanwhile, Real Madrid, the side Rudiger plays for, have had a great start to the 22/23 season. The Spanish giants enjoy a 100% win rate this season, having got off to a stellar start to the season.
Real Madrid began their campaign with a 2-0 win over Eintracht Frankfurt in the UEFA Super Cup final. Los Blancos then kicked off their La Liga title defense with a 2-1 win over Almeria.
Real Madrid have so far played six matches in the Spanish top-flight this season and have secured wins in all of those games. They sit top of the league table with 18 points. They are two points clear of second-placed FC Barcelona.
Meanwhile, Rudiger has so far featured in nine matches for Real Madrid and has scored a goal for the La Liga side. That goal came in the La Liga, where he has made six appearances.
Rudiger will be hoping to continue to play a key role for Real Madrid as they aim to retain both La Liga and Champions League titles this season.
