Chelsea News: Todd Boehly ‘Blames’ Roman Abramovich and Ex-chiefs for Chelsea’s £270M Transfer Spend

Chelsea News: According to a middleman who assisted in one of their summer exits, Todd Boehly feels his predecessors’ actions cost the club more than £100 million.

Marc Cucurella and Wesley Fofana were two of the most expensive additions that the Blues made this summer, totaling about £270 million.

The London club was the largest summer spender in the Premier League. They made deadline-day deals for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and loanee Denis Zakaria.

Boehly is reportedly of the opinion that the previous administration allowed important players to go. Roman Abramovich served as owner and Marina Granovskaia handled transfers, which played a role in the team’s decline. Saif Rubie has provided additional insight into the matter after being seen speaking to the owner.

Fofana joined Kalidou Koulibaly at Stamford Bridge this summer, and Chelsea spent more than £100 million on new center-backs overall. Chelsea let Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen go on free.

When describing Chelsea’s problems, Rubie—who assisted in the negotiation of Rudiger’s transfer to Real Madrid—mentioned these actions as well as a few other defensive purchases.

Kurt Zouma was playing there in West Ham uniforms after transferring across London last summer, while Marc Guehi and Fikayo Tomori both left Stamford Bridge recently.

According to Rubie, “the new regime had to come and pick up the pieces of decisions that the former owners had made.”

“Things like letting another defender (Tomori) go for not a lot of money to AC Milan and allowing the lad (Guehi) go to Crystal Palace. The old regime cost you £100 million; I told the new regime when I spoke with them. What did they tell me, do you know? “More”.”

Rudiger, who failed to reach a new contract with the Blues, was one of the most well-known summertime casualties. He moved to Bernabeu. Additionally, Rubie, whose client Lucas Paqueta played against Chelsea on Saturday, claimed that Rudiger’s decision may have been influenced by Chelsea’s previous administration.

What if I told you that Chelsea and the previous administration did virtually nothing to keep the player? he asked. “At the moment, he was delighted to stay and possibly serve as the club captain.

The offer presented to Rudiger, according to Rubie, was “half the amount” Romelu Lukaku was being paid at Chelsea. Lukaku, meanwhile, has also moved on, returning to Inter Milan on loan just a year after leaving the San Siro for Stamford Bridge in a club-record £97.5 million transfer.

Chelsea felt the need to increase their front-line spending because Timo Werner also left during the summer. The Blues spent heavily over the summer, bringing in Aubameyang and Raheem Sterling. There have been rumours of additional moves in January, and the results might hasten that process.

Despite their weekend victory, Chelsea is sixth in the Premier League after six games. Their next three league games include home matches against last season’s runners-up Liverpool and Fulham, as well as two London derbies at Crystal Palace and Fulham.
