Christophe Galtier Clear PSG Vice-Captain Confusion With Presnel Kimpembe
Paris Saint-Germain manager Christophe Galtier has reportedly spoken to Presnel Kimpembe after the defender claimed he was not made aware of the decision to make Kylian Mbappe the vice-captain of the club.
Speaking after PSG trounced Pays de Cassel 7-0 in the French Cup, Christophe Galtier revealed that Kylian Mbappe has been their vice-captain since the summer and the French attacker deserves to have the armband in the absence of Marquinhos.
Christophe Galtier’s comments caused confusion and Presnel Kimpembe took to Instagram to reveal he was not made aware of PSG’s decision to make Kylian Mbappe the vice-captain. The defender also stressed that he will always respect the decision of the club.
According to the French outlet, Christophe Galtier informed Presnel Kimpembe that he, Kylian Mbappe, Marco Verratti and Sergio Ramos are PSG’s four vice-captains.
Kylian Mbappe reportedly captained PSG ahead of another vice-captain Sergio Ramos because of the Frenchman’s seniority in terms of time spent with the defending Ligue 1 champions.
Meanwhile, Mbappe starred for PSG as they secured a heavy win over Pays de Cassel. The Frenchman racked up five goals and one assist as PSG ran riot against the sixth-tier side. The victory helped Paris Saint-Germain secure passage to the next stage of the French Cup.
Meanwhile, PSG, who top the Ligue 1 point table, will face Reims in the French top flight in their next match. PSG will be aiming to maintain their lead at the top of the Ligue 1 point table with a win over Reims.
The game between PSG and Reims kicks off at 1:15 am Indian Standard Time on January 30th.
