Christophe Galtier Hits Out at PSG Fans Who Whistled Lionel Messi

Paris Saint-Germain manager Christophe Galtier has hit out at fans who whistled Lionel Messi as the French heavyweights slumped to a defeat to Lyon in their most recent fixture.

After a goalless first half, Bradley Barcola sent Lyon ahead in the 56th minute of the game. Lyon then maintained the lead and saw out the game to secure all three points from the fixture. This was PSG’s second consecutive league defeat.

Speaking after the match, PSG manager Christophe Galtier slammed the fans who whistled Lionel Messi.

Speaking after PSG slumped to a 1-0 defeat to Lyon, Christophe Galtier said that the whistles against Lionel Messi were very harsh.

We are waiting for Leo and Kylian Mbappe, to unlock situations, But around Leo, the players must take more responsibility, because we can’t expect everything to come from Leo or Kylian.

Despite the defeat, Paris Saint-Germain, who are the defending Ligue 1 champions, continue to sit at the top of the points table. However, two consecutive defeats have seen PSG’s lead at the top reduced to six points.

Paris Saint-Germain have 66 points from 29 matches in Ligue 1 so far this season. Lens sits second, with 60 points from 29 matches. Marseille occupies third place, also with 60 points from 29 matches.

Meanwhile, Lionel Messi has largely been impressive for Paris Saint-Germain in the current campaign. The Argentine superstar has racked up 18 goals and 17 assists in 33 matches across all competitions this season.

Lionel Messi’s current contract with PSG is due to expire in June this year. Messi has not yet agreed on a contract extension with PSG, and that has led to speculation surrounding the future of the Argentine international.
