Cristiano Ronaldo news: Udinese goalkeeper Marco Silvestri has given transfer invitation to the Portuguese superstar to join the Italian side.

Ronaldo was heavily linked with a move away from Manchester United in the summer transfer window. That was just one season after he had sealed a sensational return to the club that first propelled him to superstardom.

Reports said Ronaldo had asked Man Utd to allow him to leave should they receive a suitable offer. Ronaldo reportedly wanted to play in the Champions League for which Man Utd have to failed to qualify after their sixth-place finish in the Premier League last season.

Udinese goalkeeper Marco Silvestri has commented on a social media post. inviting Ronaldo to the Italian side.

Meanwhile, Ronaldo has had a difficult start to the 22/23 season. The Portugal international has featured in all eight matches Man Utd have played so far this season, but he made it to the starting XI in only three of those.

Ronaldo, who had missed Man Utd’s pre-season tour of Thailand and Australia, was dropped to the bench for the Red Devils’ Premier League 22/23 opener. Ten Hag decided to bench Ronaldo for that game against Brighton. Ronaldo did come off the bench in the second half but could not help his side avoid a 2-1 defeat.

Ronaldo returned to the starting XI in Man Utd’s next game, but the no.7 could not do much as they succumbed to a 4-0 defeat to Brentford. Man Utd have since played four matches in the Premier League, and Ronaldo’s appearances in all of those were off the bench.

Ronaldo, however, has started in the two Europa League games Man Utd have played this season. He also scored in the second of those matches, converting a penalty as Man Utd defeated FC Sheriff 2-0.

The goal against FC Sheriff was also Ronaldo’s first goal of the season. He had gone goalless in the first seven matches of the 22/23 season.

Meanwhile, Ronaldo’s current contract with Man Utd expires in 2023. But there is an option to extend it by another 12 months.
