Cristiano Ronaldo’s “Hair of God” Goal Will Be Proven by Portuguese Federation Documentation to FIFA

After his fervent request to be given the objective, Cristiano Ronaldo’s “Hair of God” even became a trending topic online. Even if it would mean he would tie Eusebio’s Portuguese record of nine goals at the FIFA World Cup 2022, you can’t really blame the former Manchester United striker if his ego is getting the best of him.

The Portuguese Federation appears to be supporting his assertion as well. The football governing body is going above and beyond, said Chiringuigo TV reporter Edu Aguirre, to have Cristiano Ronaldo’s Hair of God goal recognised.

To get the goal listed under the name of the player wearing number seven and tie Eusebio’s record, they want to submit an appeal to FIFA with more supporting documentation.

Imagine that you are Bruno Fernandes and you score an important goal, but your own nation is against you. Adidas claims to have utilised technology to “definitively establish” that no touch was made between Cristiano Ronaldo’s head and the ball, even though it may all be for naught.

The 500 Hz sensor found inside this year’s World Cup ball was utilised by Adidas to verify that Cristiano Ronaldo did not touch the ball. “Using the Connected Ball Technology housed in Adidas’ Al Rihla Official Match Ball, we are able to conclusively show no contact on the ball from Cristiano Ronaldo for the opening goal in the game,” read a statement from Adidas.

“As shown by our measurements’ lack of a “heartbeat” and the accompanying image, no external force on the ball could be detected. “We can be extremely exact in our analysis thanks to the 500 Hz IMU sensor inside the ball.”

Bruno Fernandes acknowledged in his post-game interview on Monday night that he mistakenly believed Cristiano Ronaldo had tied Eusebio’s record of nine World Cup goals as he jumped to meet his cross.

He said, “I celebrated as if Cristiano had scored. In my perspective, he appeared to have touched the ball. I intended to cross the ball for him. Regardless of the scorer, we are happy with the victory. The most important thing is that we achieved our objective of moving on to the next round.”
