Erik Ten Hag Jokes After Manchester United EFL Triumph
Manchester United have lifted the EFL trophy after defeating Newcastle United 2-0 in the final at Wembley on Sunday. It is the Red Devils’ first trophy since 2017.
Casemiro gave Manchester United the lead during the 33rd minute of the game before Marcus Rashford continued his fine form by scoring the Red Devils’ second goal in the 39th minute. Newcastle United tried hard to get back into the game but Erik ten Hag’s troops stood firm and ended their trophy drought.
Erik ten Hag has started his tenure at Old Trafford brilliantly. He has steadied the ship after a disappointing 2021-22 and the Red Devils are still in contention to win the unlikely quadruple this term.
“His leadership and experience in big games is essential. Speaking to some of the other forward lads and we have all said that when he is on the pitch, we can all feel the sense of security behind us which is so important. I’m buzzing for him today.”
Casemiro has settled quickly at Old Trafford following his move from Real Madrid last summer. He has played 33 games (in all competitions) for the Red Devils, registering five goals and five assists. The Brazil international won the Manchester United Player of the Month accolade in October.
Manchester United are currently third in the Premier League table, with 49 points from 24 games. They will next lock horns against West Ham United in the FA Cup before locking horns against Liverpool in a league game at Anfield on March 5.
The Red Devils are currently unbeaten in nine games in all competitions. Erik ten Hag will hope his team builds on that form in the upcoming fixtures.
